Hobart man charged in series of sex crimes

HOBART — State police at Margaretville are continuing an investigation into the sexual abuse of girls in Hobart.

Richard M. Dostis, also from Hobart, allegedly abused multiple girls over a five-year period, troopers said in a news release Saturday.

Troopers have charged 23-year-old Dostis with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, three counts of forcible touching, two counts of first-degree unlawful dealing with a child and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Dostis has also been charged with one count each of second-degree burglary, second-degree aggravated sexual abuse, and providing alcohol to a person under 21.

The rape, burglary, aggravated sexual abuse and sexual abuse charges are all felonies.

Charges have been brought against Dostis several times, troopers said, but most recently Friday.

The charges stem from multiple interviews troopers have conducted, the release said. The incidents occurred in and around Hobart..

Dostis is being held in Delaware County Jail on $25,000 bail.
