of rape, arrested for sex crime while on $150,000 bond

LAKE CHARLES, La. A man accused of raping an eight-year-old Lake Charles girl allegedly committed other sex crimes against a minor while free on 150-thousand dollar bond.
Stephen Lanphier's bond is now 300-thousand dollars, partly due to the charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and juvenile pornography brought after he posted the lower bond on the aggravated rape charge in March 2004.
Molly Boyle says the rape victim, a niece of hers, has had to have at least five operations to repair damage from the assault. She feels prosecutors should be seeking the death penalty, which would mean no bond for Lanphier.
Cate Bartholomew, a prosecutor
at the Calcasieu District Attorneys Office, says prosecutors argued allowing any
bond for Lanphier, who is scheduled for trial March 14th.
