NMA Awards Lifetime Membership to OSIA Past President Frank DeSantis
Torrance, CA June 1, 2004 - Frank J. De Santis, who served as national president for the 1997 – 1999 term, was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Membership Certificate from the National Management Association by Kenneth P. Trevett, J.D., President/CEO of Harbor UCLA Research & Education Institute. Frank was the Harbor-UCLA NMA Chapter Founder and founding President and CEO of Harbor-UCLA Research & Education Institute from 1962 to 1997 when he retired. During his employment, annual expenditures for research grew from $55,000 to over $50 million in 1997 with over 1,000 employees and 200 physician researchers and educators.
The Institute, a major west coast and national medical research facility administers over 600 research and education grants and contracts covering a broad range of biomedical areas.
DeSantis continues to be active in management and administration by serving in key roles in his family businesses and is very active in his local OSIA Renaissance Lodge, as well as the Orange County American Italian Renaissance Foundation, The Grand Lodge of California Western Foundation and other Italian American organizations.
